My toddler loves eating hardboiled quail eggs. Deviled quail eggs make an interesting dish for a party. You could also make egg salad or omelettes with them, it's just a lot of peeling/cracking.
I think. Most of the celadon we got from jmf had speckles?Maybe an early sign of reproductive issues which Mr Robby of JMF told me is why he doesnt breed for hens that lay celadon with spots. Maybe it is how long theyre inside being splattered with paint but keep a close eye on her. I lost one of my 3 hens who was giving me double yolk 18 g eggs, im pretty sure because an egg got stuck. If your watching close enough you might be able to prevent death from that by soaking her in warm water to help her pass it. Make sure she has enough protien in her feed and calcium constantly available in her cage.
I'm going to try pickling with a raspberry or blackberry vinegar...you think it'd be way too weird?Im glad u brought that up, i ment to reply to it earlier but there was alot to reply to. Im pickling eggs this wk sometime. Everyone should do it! I have something like 130 right now, they sell real well and keep forever like that @le_bwah

I have never had a pickled egg. However I have heard of beet pickled eggs. The beets cause the eggs to turn purple and in the crosscut it fades to pink then white then the yolk. Looks cool. I don't care for beets much though...Idk but i have heard of people using colored vinegar to just change it up a bit. Im real finicky so You'll have to let me know! Just do a small batch if your really worried about it. The eggs from the first month cant be hatched anyway so im pickling everything we dont eat. I have the pickling instructions that i use in my gallery as well as pics from the first time i did it 2 yrs ago.

Hard boiled eggs pickled in beet juice with beets do not taste like beets. Pickled beets do not taste like cooked beets.I have never had a pickled egg. However I have heard of beet pickled eggs. Yeah he told me the same thing. Which was why I was so surprised we got speckles. I wonder if he was referring to just the research lines currently in development. I gotta talk to him tomorrow about this hatch. From Mr Robby on Jan 30th 2019 at 6:44 PM
I've also been able to bring the egg weight up to 12-14 grams on average (as imported it was on average about 10 grams) and a pure blue color with no specks. I found out from a professor in Russia in 2015 that the specks laid by certain birds was actually a trait that should not be breed for together. That trait of speckled eggs is a result of two different genes that produced the expressed spots and may lead to smaller weigh birds in future generations, with some having beak and feet issues for some reason in his research.
Ooo cool! I'll check it out. One of my best friends just deployed to Afghanistan 3 weeks ago and her bday was last week so I'm trying to find things that won't spoil(and she's very emotionally invested in the quail already). Not sure if you can send canned stuff tho. Gotta talk to my postmaster. If I don't get the eggs in this package maybe I'll finagle something quaily for xmasIdk but i have heard of people using colored vinegar to just change it up a bit.
