➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

:hugs i understand. Ive had cots who walk on their feet like Cs when i left em alone (im already too crazy to be tryn to put shoes on ants.) so i would recommend putn em down if they dont straighten out or be prepared for keeping handicapped things.
Nope, not the kind of person to keep handicapped birds. Already had (and then later put down) my one exception to that rule.

I'm going to give #2 a shot once I have steady hands again. #1 will be able to walk normally as long as his condition doesn't worsen, but #2 has significantly limited mobility. Normally, I would simply cull and not bother with such a long shot, but hey, they're super cute and I always give the babies a shot at living a while if I can manage it. Ol' softie, that's me.

You know since the buttons wont be processed im not tryn as hard to get em round the bend (like the splay i gave up on pretty early) to the first proccessing at least. Will you be eating any of em that dont pair off?
Don't know yet. I seriously doubt they're worth the effort except for stock.

It depends on how many make it to maturity—I'm expecting some losses.

It was the last one to hatch. It hatched almost 24 hours after the almost last one.

Edit: I had pretty poor hatch rates on both of my batches, but I can point to several factors on each that were entirely my fault. I expect to do better the next time I hatch.

Little yellow ones suck ! We lost ours too last batch.

I know you have at least 2 falb fee (the yellowy striped ones) but the other ~4 might be falb fee and might be pharaoh, can't tell yet from baby pic.

Is it just me or have EVERYONE'S June/July hatches sucked majorly?! I haven't been on much but when I have read updates it has seemed like most everyone's had problems (incl me).

Okay. I figured out what my "sandy" girl is. She is a roux-diluted charcoal/grau-fee! Her dad must carry it. She threw a normal roux hen this batch.

I REEEEEAAAALLY like this combo and now I am mad I sold my homozygous roux male. Oh well. Have to give her some charcoal hens to go along with him now and have some babies later.

Agreed its not worth the effort Unless theres an extra and he is miserable and then ill find out if its a whole ounce of meat  but yep i too decided theyre Sooo cute that i had to try, and then it didnt work. O-well at least i tried, there are more healthy things that need my time.

Exactly. Might as well put resources into birds that are going to be useful in furthering the overall quality of your flock.

Woah! Beautiful.

Well, hatching season is officially over for me. All my incubators are off. I'm going to be rebuilding my main one over the winter and potentially adding a new lockdown 'bator. One that doesn't kill eggs! I am thinking of doing a cabinet style build to save on space.
