So my husband finished the grow out pen yesterday. We sized it to fit under the coop for weather protection but also put wheels on the back to make moving it around easier. It is light enough to tuck under the deck during the off season if needed as well.

after my post this morning I went out to feed. I’m still absolutely sick and in utter shock as something triggered an early morning “massacre” my aviary looked like a slaughterhouse!!! we were able to process most of the meat after wrangling all the chukars and pheasants into the chicken area. I lost over a dozen of my quail!!! not sure how many more may die today from trauma/shock not evident this morning. several were my layers and some were my favorites including my falb fee tux!
will definitely be completing some sort of permanent separation this weekend.

So sorry to hear this. its always tough to see territorial fights, pecking order deaths or general, 'we' don't get along well together massacres.

I think improved gene pool + fancybator will do the trick. Hoping it cools off a bit.

It's gonn get real cold on fri/sat. We're down to 55 at night 74 during daylight both days

Yeah. It is pretty easy to move empty but once it starts to fill up with birds and supplies a handle would probably be helpful.
