You can ‘finesse’ the parameters... not too much, but hey, it’s your poem. I like the forms.. they give me some edges to keep my thoughts contained, but I do push the boundaries when it seems like the right thing to do.

Yep. In the poems I have felt compelled to write down I adhered to a nearly iambic foot with meters of whichever length I jolly well wanted. It seemed a good compromise between sounding nice and sounding well-phrased.
