➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Guys I've asked this question in another thread but just in case, I'll post here as well. It is getting cold here and I keep the quails outside. What is the lowest temperature they can live at outside? I don't want to freeze them..
I read 2 articles. One said - minimum 18-19°C = 65°F and the other one said minimum 10°C = 50°F

Soooo sweet OMG :love

yes i threw it together from jan/feb hatch using pic collage for this thread earlier this year! it’s about 1000 or so pages back:gig

:lau

They look pretty still to me ;) :lau

I love that third one with them all lined up. :love

I don't remember that.
Make more!

:lau I don’t remember most stuff anymore lol subjects change too much/too fast :lau

okies!! i will try to work on that this weekend! DS said he took more photos of my birds this week so hopefully he got some really good ones!! I will try to help him get some good quality chick pics too from this hatch!!

:love

the little silver tux standing up I think is my favorite!! I can’t wait to see how he feathers out!!

X2!! And the red stripeys lol

He was fussing right now. Standing up tall yelling at me to get my phone away from him.

I like him and the darkest one the most. I already forgot about the yellers.

:lau OMG lol bold little fella. Or lady I should say.

And that’s surprising! :lau waited all this time for some real yellers only to ditch them for something better.. poor yellers ;) :lau

I don’t blame you though. These other colors are much better lol you don’t like the red stripeys?

:lau The drawback to that however is the more they stand up and fuss like that, the higher probability they will be boys!!!

:lau hopefully not!!

Yall should band them and see!

X2!!!

Well the tubes are full again right now, so they cannot get stuck at just. I think we are going to rubberband some scraps of window screen over the tubes. That week likely be the "permanent fix." I don't want to add more cost to the project. 4" PVC parts are not cheap. I had the pipe on hand in our basement, but not caps.
4" PVC test cap

There's a seminar??! Where? Details please!
Earlyyy commute :caf
It's fast approaching!
Aww, I have work, no fair. Maybe they will have another one I can go to later this year.
This is the last batch till next year I think. EDC's got canceled because of "low interest", they didn't advertise until 3 days prior. I found out about it the day after it was canceled. So now it's Sonoma or Humboldt...
So I guess I actually will be covering the tubes on my DIY feeder... I found a quail in each tube when we just came home from picking up feed. :rantthe fed got low so they thought they could just jump down tge tubes to get the bit of feed that was left. Of course the dummies are too big at 7 weeks old now to actually get their heads down to eat while crammed in a 4" diameter tube. Thank goodness I came in through the garage (so I walked past the new cage) or they would have been stuck until the morning.
I have a quail kill herself getting stuck in the feeder. Be extra carefulll. It was so depressing to find. They had been using said feeder fine for almost a week :(

I don't think either of those are too cold for quail.

I actually bought the darn license, wish they'd sent something about a seminar when they sent the paperwork. I think the majority of eggs I sold so far this year were hatching eggs.
