āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

well the eggs came in i ordered 6+ received 12 3 were cracked two are blue and when i use my candling light it looks like several are blue on the inside
I notice the blue on a lot of eggs. I think it's pretty common nowadays.

The blueish shell under the regular quail paint job.

aside from the breast color on the wild type are there color differences in the other colors of the coturnix quail so you can sex them?
The Pansy males get the red/rusty chest too.

I'll have to let you know if I can tell who is who when my current color crew gets a little bigger.

Really its not so bad to me but i couldnt survive in your cold. Id have to male the dh build heated tunnels to any coop :lau

So i guess im in for a long winter of covering and uncovering plastic eh?
i released my thanksgiving (1st flock) outside in December last year. at first, I tried to lock them in the coop at night, but that got pretty tedious when i figured out that they would not go in on their own like chickens!! We had average temps 40* but would drop below freezing at night. there were many mornings that i had to ā€œthawā€ their waterers and they did fine! when temps in january dropped to windchills of negative 30*+ for a week or so, I moved them back in the shed with supplemental heat and even locked all my chickens in the coop with heater!! I released them again as soon as temps/windchills went back up well above zero! (luckily @ that time my quail flock was only 7 birds!)
