➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Put the QB#5 white girl in with the 2 white girls from QB#3 with the Jumbo male from QB#4 (#3 jumbo male, just in case). QB#5 started attacking everyone. All 4 were moved to a neutral cage (clean and different arrangement). This afternoon she has plucked a bald spot on one of her sisters and started on the other 2 birds. If she doesn't chill, she goes to the frig. All three will huddle on the other side of the cage from her.

Since she is A&M coloring, I'm still assuming she is a she. Just made 8 weeks old, so vent sexing is a maybe. Good idea. I'll try tomorrow. I knew y'all could help me. Was not fighting with the wild colored male she hatched with.

Any pointers on integration? Or go straight to the frig? Depending on the attitude tomorrow, butcher is a possibility. Cute little A&M coloring or not.

QB#6, 29 chicks, has 2 with crook necks at 1 week old. Added vitamins to water and guessing wry neck. One has the bad eye and is smaller and acting bad. Hopeful, may need to cull.

For such a little bird, how do they get so much poop in the waterers? 1/2" lip. They must back their little butts up to the bottle to get that much poop in the water. I am amazed.
This is why I have been avoiding integration at all costs. I don't want to deal with meanies.
I will finally be trying it in a few weeks. I think.

When I pulled QB#3 boy out and replaced him with a Jumbo male, no issues. The QB#3 girls didn't have any issue and are giving fertile eggs. This new girl, though, is causing issues.

So I've integrated twice without issues. QB#1+QB#2 was easy. Butcher half and combine was my first integration. Bird specific?

Zack's last utube post said 3 birds per square foot. Is anyone housing that dense? My densest is 1 bird per square foot. Excluding the brooder.

Zach is nuts or he mistyped.
No way I'd keep 3 birds per foot even if I was just growing them out.

No @RUNuts i dont house that densely like Kiki i wouldnt do that even to grow outs after 2 wks old. Babies yea sure.

That is something some of the Utubers do though ive seen it and said poor things, battery cages :( im just not comfortable with it.

@Texas Kiki What is the hatch list?
It's just a Google sheet I made to try to keep track of how many quail we hatch this year.
Next year's list will be way more detailed.

I'll add you today.
All I need is hatch dates and total number of live quail from each set.

I keep a link to the sheet in post number one of this thread.
And I try to keep it updated regularly.
