@el dorado quailThats spit up dear! Not illness
I wondered if youd seen it or heard of it before when you mentioned it last and nobody responded i ment to but i get sidtracked easilyim so sorry
i realize you couldve gained alot of comfort from our knowledge but late is better than never so know that is compleatly normal for quail to spit up on you when theyre scared because youve picked em up.
@el dorado quail
Sorry I meant to say it was normal too and also got sidetracked, by bunnies.
They're hoping it will surprise you into dropping them as a last defense.
Edit: oh wait diff birds. Sooo tired. Should go sleep.

ok will definitely get pics today....this is 2nd or third full albino and Iāve had at least 1 partial....not sure which colors (birds) they came from. this is first one to survive this long!!Take those pics of your albino before it keels over ! I will make the albino page soon.
Yep, these are all between like 4 and 8 weeks.
You do! (or lavender manchurian; they look a lot alike and keep fooling even me)
I would consider the pearl types like 70% feather sexable in my opinion? You tell the same way you do with Italians. Brown head markings and solid chest = male black head markings and speckled chest = female BUT they're way more prone to random in between weirdos that make you second guess until someone lays an egg.
Add in the silver gene for snowies and you can *only* tell by the chest markings or lack thereof and it gets even harder and less certain.
Sorry, I donāt know the history here, but you might consider treating for coccidiosis. Just a thought!The spit up thing is good to know!
The reason I'm worried about those 2 is they're really skinny and have like 100% liquid poops along with the crazy drool. Hopefully isolating them is going to calm them down and they'll eat.
I think all the cleaning and commotion this week pissed them off.my girls have stopped laying again.....iām pretty sure it has to do with shortened days. iāve been trying to turn on the lights for an extra 2-3 hours each day (dusk-bedtime) but hasnāt made a difference yet
i attempted to get a button out yesterday for a picture....that is nearly an impossible feat! it only got away from me once and luckily i was able to quickly retrieve it and return it to the cage safely. iām starting to lean toward all 4 hens based on behaviors and lack of red color. iām itching to hatch more in an attempt to get another blue male, but while DH also wants another ābenjaminā , he doesnāt want me hatching anymore eggs until we get the button cage and the ābrooding/grow-outā room in the shed completed. based on my current schedule and available funds, that is still a ways off!
We went through a 5 day dose of corid 2ish weeks ago. I think stress and mealworm overdose might be the driving factor behind the liquipoops. I will dose them again if it doesn't clear up in a few daysSorry, I donāt know the history here, but you might consider treating for coccidiosis. Just a thought!
