āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
Shoot.

Can you tell genders yet?
haven’t even tried yet....(not since the couple random checks to see if you would be able to tell). i usually just wait until i get too many crowing and then start butchering!
once they are released into the aviary, they start to all blend in!

No girl...I haven't checked that way yet. I think they are too young for foam checks still.

Your right i just had hoped that u had confirmed it like that since your so sure. I went thru alot of this with my set and on butchering day found a hen and saved her from among my batchelor pad. This was just after my friend had accident offed a hen so i was reminded to be extra careful.

i really think you are overreacting a bit!! surely you did not hatch 20/30 males!!!

X2

I hatched 24.
4 are now gone.
I think I have 17 makes and 3 females.

There is no way lol

And wait what happened to the other 4? I know you offed one today but what about the others?

Theres no way man- each of these males are giving u foam?

X2

Hopefully.

Yes Kiki be careful! Last time she accidentally offed all her males lol

I don't believe her either. I think she's jumping to conclusions.

X2!!! LOL

With muddys vote too your at 3 to 1 Kiki there Are more hens!

4 to 1 now!!

Ok, my little experience shows that the males start crowing between 28-38 day. I haven't done vent-sexing as I haven't been interested, but so far my 'behaviour sexing' has been pretty accurate. Again, I don't have much experience.
My boys never crow.
I'm serious...they do not make noise here. Never have.
The older two boys I have now...I've heard the cute light Pansy crow twice.

I'm mostly joking.
I do not really know if I do indeed have mostly males but I sure get the felling I do.
