I could tell by just looking at him that he was a giant compared to everyone else.that’s already 9.3 oz!! i’d definitely be tempted to keep and re-weigh at 8 and 10 weeks!!
That is one reason I was sure he was a girl.

first pic is one of my pearl males, 2nd is one of my first pearl females, and last is pearl chick about 2 weeks old
maybe....since the release they all kinda blend in!! I do need to weigh some though!! i’ve got at least 6 or 8 males really crowing again!! and little “dottie” and “pecker” just crack me up with their treat time antics! “pecker” will grab DH pant leg if he’s not getting her treats fast enough and “dottie” actually hops up knee level or higher to grab treats! Is this my big large boy's twin?View attachment 1942248
this is my aviary.....it is currently home to 4 pheasants, 5 chukars, and 60ish quail. this will be first full winter for this “flock” so we are adding a room in the shed that can hold birds as necessary if temps drop too low and DH wants me to move all of my incubators and brooders out to the shed as well. Can quail live on the ground instead of on wire? Like if I built a quail tractor or is that a stupid idea?
Are you sure this is your yard? I don't see a dog in the pool.View attachment 1942256 View attachment 1942257 View attachment 1942258 View attachment 1942259 View attachment 1942260

No not from one of the Pansy cages...from our newest baby's cage.is it from pansy cage??i got a “fairy” egg the other day....guessing from a new layer but no idea which one
i cleaned out an abandoned broody nest too and was surprised that she managed to get 6 or so eggs in there!! (it was in tree trunk hideaway)
yes, it is a 1” pvc frame attached to deck and 8 ft privacy fence.....gate is quarter inch hardware cloth and other fence is chicken wire. we just re-covered it with heavy duty aviary netting this past weekend. we ran electric fencing along top after raccoons from neighbors attic wiped out about 3 dozen birdsIs that made out of PVC?
