➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Ehh. Those are rare. Most people just put a giant amount of work into it. Hours daily.

Hmm I guess that’s true. But I’ve run into several people who are just amazing at it ha maybe it’s practice. Idk. Some of them don’t seem to practice that much though. Maybe it’s both. Even with tons of practice, probably helps to have at least some natural talent haha I think singing at least most people are born with it haha instruments you may be right about practice.

I've never tried those. I can't think of a more boring way to spend my time.
I don't even like board games, lol. D&D always looked like something I could get into, but I don't have enough friends to play it.
I've been playing D&D since it came out. I haven't played this year since my roommate who passed away was our GM, but we're probably going to start our regular Sunday game again next year. It's a lot of fun.

Goodness, no. I would rather die. I've been to Niagara Falls area once, but I spent almost no time outside of the car. Now that was a crazy city. The height of the buildings blew my mind.

Agreed. Being able to hear traffic when I'm in my backyard would slowly drive me batty.
My backyard is on a street that is so busy they had to build a sound wall. :(

Isn't NYC "the city that never sleeps"?

Most large cities never sleep. Even in suburbia there are places that never close.

Maybe they practiced more in the past. You never know. Or maybe they're actually rubbish at the technical bits that take time, and they've just mastered a few melodies (not that hard to do.)
Singing does seem more like a talent thing than playing instruments, but a lot of it is definitely just how comfortable you are with it.

Too bad you aren't closer, I'd come gate-crash.

Aww I’m sorry. :hugs I think it would be good to restart, I’m sure he would want you guys to do that :hugs

And oh wow :( :hugs

You can hear the highway from where we are cause we are pretty close to it but not right on it or anything, some of the houses on the street behind us are.

Thankfully you can’t really hear the highway all the time. Mostly just when loud cars or trucks go by haha but you can hear sirens when they go by.

We are also directly under a major flight path so we get a lot of airplanes and helicopters flying by sometimes. Depends on the day some more than others haha

And we are also relatively close to the train so we can here it or at least hear the whistle.

It’s a few miles away but that whistle carries far.

But that’s about the extent of travel noise.

Otherwise, we are surrounded by trees and set back somewhat in the woods so we have lots of nature and wildlife. Lots of birds, frogs, cricket, sounds depending on the season. We also have lots of turkeys, deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, hawks, etc. etc. I love watching solves the wildlife and listening to the birds :love unless they are hunting my chickens! :barnie

But just the other day we had 4 deer visit within just a couple hours!! 3 bucks and a doe and we even had one buck bed down in the tall grass/weeds in the backyard and lay there sleeping and chewing his cud for a while :love

Oh and that’s true. We have a 24 hour Walmart here haha

Hmm that’s true!! I’m sure the basics are super simple!! Although that said, I know a couple people who are super good at the technical stuff and even with tons of practice, I think you have to have at least some talent to be that amazing at it and that creative/original :love one of them absolutely shreds on the guitar :love another is amazing at drums but he really has put TONS of work into it and is very into proper technique and stuff. I know he works crazy hard at it. Sure the guitarists do too but some people do just have a gift haha

And hmmm that’s true!! I definitely am not comfortable with it :lau

I don’t even like playing music or videos or anything on my phone when anyone else is in the room haha

I seem to have run into two types of people though. Those who say you absolutely can learn how to sing and it’s all about breath and controlling it and everything and with practice you can totally do it and those who say nope, no way, can’t do it, not possible, don’t bother, you’re just born with it, not possible to learn.

I personally think it’s likely a combination of the two. Talent helps tremendously but probably is possible to learn with enough effort and dedication.

The sad thing too though or at least kinda frustrating to me is some people are born with so much musical talent but never even use it or seem remotely interested in music at all!! Meanwhile there’s people like me who would love to have even a tiny shred of that musician talent and absolutely LOVE music and everything to do with it but absolutely suck at it!! :hit

With modern technology, some adventurers skype or video chat their adventures. Since DD's friends went out into the world, they do this. Just saying, distance and time are irrelevant. Here is there. Now is then.

Welcome to the Twilight Zone … <cue music>

Random number generators are not as much fun as a bag of bones though. Nor as random. Had a discussion with a statistician. A project was trying to program a random number generator, but even with an input <don't remember what they are called - seed?> they were significantly predictable statistically. Predictable disproves random by definition. Really makes you want to run to a casino to play video slots. :hmm Kinda like popping colored bubbles on a phone, huh?

Agreed. A random number generator is actually only pseudo random. You can calculate what the numbers are going to be if you know what the seed is. Way back in the 80's when I created my first random number generator I used the system clock as the seed.

Originality comes secondary to time spent practicing. While there are absolutely some savants around, I highly doubt you know two of them. :p
I read an article a while ago about this topic. I'll have to see if I can find it. I can tell you from personal experience that I most certainly did NOT feel like I had any musical ability before I started learning. It didn't come naturally to me at all. Even the old masters spent hundreds of hours at the piano in their very early childhood. You listen to music, don't you? The fact you can appreciate it proves you're not clueless about music.

Really? Interesting.

How do you remove the poo balls for a button quail? I did it for my coturnix but the buttons are so flighty I'm afraid of hurting them. I usually make the coturnix stand in warm water and then gently scrape the ball off in chunks once it's softened up a bit.

I hold the quail and extend the leg, then gently mash the ball with needle nose pliers on the edges so the toe isn't mashed along with the ball. I tried soaking them, but it was a disaster. By the time the ball was soft, the quail was in shock.
