➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Oh, that's too bad.:hit

They just hatched, didn't they? Isn't it rare to have chicks do that to each other? None of mine have, at least... :fl
I haven't ever had a day old meanie...until now.

They hatched Wednesday. The ugliness started Thursday.

I've tried 50 times to put them back together and the meanies immediately beats the one up every time.

I can get a video if you want to see how poorly the one is.

Awww no!! :hit :hit I’m sorry Kiki!! :hugs

Hopefully the dummy will decide to eat soon. :fl

Can you clean his beak up a bit? Maybe that will help? But assuming you’ve already done that.

I’m sorry. :hit

I would think the one quail would probably be okay by himself until it’s time to eat him??
I don't think it's fair for me to raise him to eat if he is going to stay miserable.
He complains non stop being stuck by himself.

Oh wow what a meanie!!! :th

Ahh okay. That makes sense. I didn’t realize he was a complainer too!!

What a dummy!

Complains about being alone but beats up his companion!! :th

Maybe you could put them next to each other so they can see each other a while without beating each other up?? Then he wouldn’t be alone either.

The poor one...his beak/nose took a beating.
It looks a lot better now...but he isn't doing well.
Video uploading now.

One male per cage if you are planning on keeping them.
If growing them out more makes per cage will work for a little while.
adults are 1 sq ft per bird average....so 8, 10, 8, 5,5 with 1 male to 4 female ratio.....total 36 adult birds with (2) 2x9 pen depending on individual personalities of birds and also account for loss of floor space with hideaways, feeders, and waterers
The minimum that I've read is 1 square foot per bird, but I wouldn't house more than half that. I would put 1 roo and 3-4 hens per pen.
:barnieWhy did y'all let me order so many eggs!?!?
:thI'm gonna hafta build 4 more identical pens or add on different levels on the ones that I've already made!!!

I've been so busy I haven't been able to catch up yet.
I have bad news.
My Halloween twins...
One beat up the other Halloween night.
I thought I separated them but some how the injuries dummy made his way back to get beat up more.
I fixed that but I can not get him to eat for anything.
I'm guessing his injuried bloody beak isn't allowing him to eat.
I've pretty much kept him alive with drops of Nutri-Drench water but I don't think I'm going to continue to nurse him.
Now the really bad news.
I don't think I can raise a single baby so I'm considering offing them both.
I was going to do it tonight but I can't make my mind up.
I won't let the little one suffer much longer...if he doesn't eat on his own tonight I well help him tomorrow.
I've never had one super mean just after hatch but I did have that little red one try to drag my tiny Tibetan hatchling all over the Incubator by his toes, I think s/he thought they were worms or something. S/he still does that to everyone!

I'm getting 4 this spring so we have them for Thanksgiving
I want several, but I want a couple just to have, the rest to eat.:drool

Well, you're going to have a bunch of males that you're not going to keep, right? That will reduce your numbers right there.
