It is 100% contagious. Just BEWARE there is NO CURE so preventing exposure was your only hope. I see it's much too late to prevent exposure, so you might as well embrace your illness!!!:wee:jumpy:yesss:
 
Would it be absurd to keep two female coturnix indoors in a guinea pig cage? They seem like bird equivalents to guinea pigs size-wise, not too large as long as I avoid the jumbos. My buttons do very well indoors and cause no trouble at all, but I hear coturnix can have more smell? I really keep up on cleaning for my indoor animals like a full time job (that I enjoy) but I don't want anything that's going to really reek. No outdoor space at all here...

If I got cots I want to hatch and socialize chicks so they are tame. Though my buttons have gotten very friendly just through mealworm treats every time I open their cage.

I think the thing is just keeping their poo cleaned up, use some litter or something else drying under their wire should help with odor. I noticed the odor improved when I added peat moss to their boxes. Of course they eat it, sleep in it, dust in it & poo in it too. Mine are pretty tame right now, I can pet and easily hold a few of them at just 3 weeks.

If they are only two I have done it, I had 3 and I had to clean the cage at least once a week. I then kept on the balcony... They do smell though so I wouldn't recommend keeping too many inside.
