➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

What color?
I got a lot of jumbo wild colored boys. And a few white ones. Maybe a one bleached. Last week, I almost asked for a trade if you had a nice big one you weren't using.

Alas, I'm not NPIP.
I've got that batch of feather sexable & Sexlink that are 3 weeks old. Bunch of Pharoahs & Egyptians (like 34 of them)....

@Kiki - Quail Batch #7 is at 10 weeks. I was supposed to start butchering last weekend. This weekend is it.

Found my notes. 20 jumbo wild males. 6 jumbo wild females and 2 white ones that I haven't sexed yet. They looked like girls at 7 weeks. But I know better now.

Quail Batch #8 has 8 whites, 7 wild type and 2 bleached. Unsexed and these are mostly Jumbo male over Lucky's daughters. May not make weight. They are 7 weeks old.

I thought you only needed NPIP to ship out of state? Can’t Kiki just pick them up? :lau

My cage of 6....the cage I was so sure there were at least 2 males in...
6 eggs tonight.

I just butchered the males from the other cage yesterday.

There is ZERO crowing here from ALL of my cages.

There is only the one big boy that was crowing while I had him in a cage for a few days by himself.
He hasn't made a noise since.
He is the dad of my new babies.

I think I might only have ONE darn male out of 4 cages with 16 other quail.

:th
Kiki, you’re quite the one for killin’ off all your boys. All the males had better cut & run! :lau:gig:lau

:popAre your birds kept in pens, an aviary or free range?
:loveI love the tropical look of your backyard trees.
:droolNice compost bin too!
:oldSorry if I've already asked this at another time, I'm quite forgetful actually.

Well, I think if @Kiki is npip she is suppose to only get new birds/eggs from other npip'ers. Or maybe it's an "at risk of infection" thing to get from non-npip'ers. If I understood the Oklahoma information correctly. I hate it, it takes from the neighborly aspect of backyard swaps (although I wouldn't want to infect anyone's flock incidentally either).

No I am not NPIP.
I don't think I would ever try to mail live birds...I'd get busted for sure.
