With quail they sometimes do because the cause of death can often be due to a broken neck from flushing too hard into the top or sides of their cage.Do people process birds that drop dead? I don't with my chickens.

Thanks for the info. I haven't dealt with many dead chickens, I did have a chick that passed away but I think it was trampled by the bigger ones. I just put it in the woods so nature could have it.With quail they sometimes do because the cause of death can often be due to a broken neck from flushing too hard into the top or sides of their cage.
Thanks. I'll keep an eye on him but won't move him unless he's being a jerk. He was sitting on the nest with the hen last night when I turned the lights off. Some peeps do seperate them but I think it's only because the male becomes aggressive towards the chicks.
Mine have never hatched any out...they sit on the nest but never have hatched any? It might be that the male is having an affect on the hen?
I just put them in the bator if I want more birds.
I've had Bob's set and hatch before though.![]()
I had two do that from my first batch. The first one went full speed into the side of the coop and I'm pretty sure broke his neck. The second one I didn't see it happen, but I suspect something similar. I didn't process either of them. What the heck!?!?
I just came out to take care of the little birds like always.
My breeders were crowing, breeding, leaping around like idiots etc....
I looked over and my Egyptian roo was laying on his back/side seizing or spasming/dying!
Do I process him now? Seems weird to do that with an unplanned event. Does this happen sometimes, drop dead for no apparent reason?

Well I have at least one male producing foam right now so I’m hoping eggs are coming soon@Matieus27.....it seems my egg production keeps increasing as i take out extra males.....i’m back at almost 2 dozen per day. do you think too many males could be part of your problem??
Time to visit Nutty.
Guess what?
I found three eggs in a cage with the two light Pansy females and my favorite Tibetan.
I could have possibly missed on egg this morning but I don't think so.

I'm almost positive that 5 are girls and poor Cruch is the only boy but I don't want his babies.
