➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Also, all of that said, dog walking/pet sitting is a perfectly valid job. It’s not just for kids anymore. Plenty of people make careers in the pet industry. In fact, it’s one of the fastest growing industries right now. So the implication from everyone that it’s not real or that it’s just an excuse to avoid finding a “real” one or I’m just lazy is also highly unappreciated. It’s actually a helluva lot more work than any retail or office job would be.
It is/would be a totally valid job as long as there is a demand for it in your area. Here where I live you'd starve to death with that as a profession. It would only be able to be a hobby here. If you're able to make it a true profession I suggest having some business cards made and pass them out everywhere. If you're serious about pet care/sitting/training I say embrace it. Good luck, it's no different to me than babysitting, alot of people do that for a living.

Oh gosh wow I can see what you mean now!:gig

It does look like your downsizing plans are going to have to wait till next year...or maybe the year after that?
I figure that eventually I'll have so many pens built I'll quit thinking about downsizing and simply embrace the madness.

Shhh nooo! There’s no addiction here, my phone just automatically orders them and the eggs roll into the incubator by themselves! :lau
Back when I first started incubating, I'd blame the cat.

A lot of people still think that, including my own mom for a while, and it’s understandable because that used to be the case but it’s different now. It’s not just for kids anymore.

People are spending more on their pets now than ever before and treating them like children/family now so you can make quite a lot of money doing it now. At least around here. You make the most doing in home boarding and taking multiple dogs at a time, like 2 or 3, but can still make money doing the other stuff too.

That’s part of why I want to get certified as a professional trainer though because I think that’s where I’d have the best shot at making the most money.

But I live in a highly populated area as well as a pretty expensive one and there’s a lot of people willing to spend whatever it takes for the best care for their “babies.”

It’s very valid and possible here.

I think another big part of that too though, besides having a lot of potential clients here, is that I can charge a lot more here than I would be able to in other areas while still being reasonable and competitive.

The tone and sarcasm really wasn’t necessary. I am well aware there’s a lot of jobs and that I need one and have zero problems with getting one.

I was not saying I don’t want one or making any excuses. I am actually a lot more motivated to find one now than I ever was before due to some recent changes I’ve been making. I’m trying.

Therefore, I wasn’t saying that that money would be enough to live off of permanently or that I don’t need to find a job. That’s not why I mentioned the dog walking.

I was simply correcting the (wrong) assumption that my parents pay for everything or that I earn nothing. I am earning some of my own money and I save just about all of it.

That account was made in September 2018 so about a year and a half of saving. Some of it came from birthdays, graduation, holidays, etc. but only a very very small percentage. The vast majority of it came from the dog walking and pet sitting alone. And I could make even more if I found more clients, which I want to eventually, but I’m not going to. I’ve been applying for other jobs.

Really don’t appreciate the implication that I don’t want a job or am lazy or stupid or whatever. I’m not an idiot. I know that dog walking will not support me forever. But I DO pay for plenty of my own stuff. In fact, I am now paying for my own car. I’m not a child or an idiot.
Sorry Kelsi. None of my business. I was honestly only trying to encourage you.

Nah, I’m sorry. I way overreacted and went off on you and it was completely unnecessary and out of line and I apologize. I hope that I did not upset or offend you in any way. :hugs

It wasn’t personal I promise.

I was honestly having a pretty shitty night and probably read way more into it than I should have.

I also think I was just venting some frustrations in general rather than specifically directing it at you/your post but I am sure you truly meant well so it wasn’t right and I really am sorry. Truly.

I should not have taken my frustrations out on you like that and I hope you can forgive me eventually but if not that is totally understandable too. I was a complete ass and I am sorry. :hugs

Don’t worry about it. I wasn’t being very careful of my words. I don’t blame you for getting upset. It’s all good.

You sound like my husband when he brings home another toy! :gig

That’s usually the best plan...blame it on something else! Haha :lau

Look what arrived today!

It magically unboxed itself and started running!

Seriously though, I’m happy I now have two separate incubators which means I can do a quail hatch and chicken hatch at the same time and also hatch more eggs than I used to.

I won 6 eggs in a competition so the ones that are numbered 1,2 and 3 are USA Silkie eggs. The other 4 are from my British standard birds.

My quails aren’t laying yet so in the second incubator I’m going to collect another 10 eggs up from my Silkies and put them in there on Friday.

When the quails start laying, hopefully the incubators are free of eggs!
