After inspecting QB#14 after hatch, all looked fine. I have a single bug-eyed chick at 2 weeks old. This is confusing. The chick's right eyed is bugged out and the left eye is fine. I could have missed it after hatch.

From the comments, it doesn't sound like bug-eyed chicks thrive. This one appears fine. We shall watch it.

not this time.....he replied to a covid-19 comment and let’s just say DH doesn’t hold his tongue!! the op said that tokyo didn’t have to lockdown nor have as many covid deaths as NYC because they have inherently impeccable hygiene.....DH blatantly refuted that statement with the mention of being able to buy dirty panties from vending machines (of course i’m being way more “PC” than his comment)

I don't always agree with your views on COVID-19, but Tokyo did, in fact, have to go into lockdown, and Japan, just like every other country has a wide variety of people and types of people.

And no, you can't get used panties out of vending machines. You can get them online, but that's a kink that isn't limited to Japan either. (If you can imagine a kink, it's out there)

That one is not related to a hatching problem or genetics. It is diseased and should be removed and culled immediately to prevent the spread of the disease.

I never bothered to try to find out. One eye tends to bulge out at some point after hatching. Treating with Vetericyn eye drops did nothing more than temporary relief. General health continued to decline with length of time the infected one was alive. It seemed to be spread by wild birds. I have had two such cases. I culled both cases and have not had any further incidents.

I do make sure that when I cut grass for the chicks that I am not gathering any grass with wild bird feces on it.

Pop-eye where both eyes bulge out at the hatch tends to be genetic.

Thank you. This is the reason I posted. To get information. Much appreciated. Was thinking this was an injury, not disease. Very swollen either way.

I like small hands also. After having a dentist with sausage fingers, I look for dentists and hygienists who can see what they are doing. This is important.
