➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Ugh I bit the bullet and removed the eggs tonight since I was worried about them rotting 😓 as I thought, it looks like all 6 eggs made it to lock down, unfortunately I don't know if it was that humidity bump for a little while on day 15 or what but something happened and it appears they all stopped at the 24 hr mark before pip :( aircells were expanded and there was no real blood as it had already been absorbed and babies looked like they'd been almost positioned to hatch w/ head to wing. I do think the humidity must've played some role as one egg had noticable cross beak and wouldn't have survived post hatch anyways, but the others didn't show any clear abnormalities. But Quil does have 1 crooked toe which I know is either genetic or a humidity thing so something was wrong, need to decide whether to get more eggs now, or wait, even if I got some now he'd be 3 weeks by the time they hatched so I'm not sure he'd be keen on the company any ways :/

Lala watch me post updates on my single baby quail to everyone else's 10+ birds because he's officially my only child😂 wondering if I can introduce him to my squab in a few weeks and see if they'll keep eachother company in the future when they're in the loft.

Also if I did get another batch and I was wanting a good 5-7 babies is a dozen enough? All 7 of 12 made it to lockdown even w/ my less than stellar temps(but they were an auction so supplier currently isn't selling at the moment, aka I'll need to find someone else), so if I set another batch and held it @ a lower humidity this time, would a 5-7 hatch be likely? Just wanna check because I've read the hatch charts and there's been some bad hatches even in larger numbers (not that I can talk😅)

... @Kiki how much would you charge me for shipping lol? Pretty sure it'd get to me the next day given I'm just over in Katy🥺 it'd reassure me on the chance of less scrambled eggs if they aren't coming all the way from Ohio 😅
Wanna meet me on the Beltway somewhere?

What was your humidity the first 15 days?

Where did eggs come from?

@Kiki they came from Kelso WA, I had the humidity at 40-45% the first 15 days, Although I did remember I actually have someone I can get some free quail eggs off of! sent her 24 chicken hatching eggs last spring and they're over flowing with quail! Told me to message her if I ever wanted some eggs🤣 guess I should call in that favor now. Lol she actually meant her buttons but I'm sure she'd give me some Coturnix
