➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I don't blame you. If it's having problems eating and drinking, it might be blind. If that's the case, its chances of survival are low. View attachment 2244968
I haven’t seen it eat or drink yet but I’ll keep peeking in on it.

I have to get my butt moving on making these quail cages 😂 It’s been quite a busy season for us.

I actually just checked on it and it was eating. It seems to follow the others in what they’re doing not sure if it’s by sound or limited sight. Both eyes are red for sure.

Okay so I set on the 27th late in the evening and nothing yet. Temps are good, humidity was touch and go in the beginning but I have it pretty well controlled now.

The only thing I can think is that when I bought the “hatching eggs” from another homesteader I got them home and they were very cold. I think she may have collected them and tossed them in the fridge? I let them sit at room temp all day before I set them, and there is definitely development. I just took one out and tapped and heard some scraping around inside.

Could the cold storage have slowed things down? 🤔
So today is day 13? Edit: Sorry, turns out I can't count. Today is day 18?

No...the cold storage wouldn't be an issue right now.

There are a few of us that left eggs in the fridge for days before taking them out to set and hatch just fine.

Have you candled any of the eggs tonight?
A tiny light, such as one that comes on a cell phone, is perfect for shining into the air cell to look for movement.
