I just figured their feet might fall through 1/2”

Internet wisdom says the 1/4" mesh for chicks. But for adults the 1/4" doesn't let the poop balls fall through and makes a terrible mess and makes poop toe balls. I believe this since some poop doesn't fall through the 1/2" mesh.

You can either use that one for a dedicated brooder or turn it upside down and put 1/2" on the other side?

The 1/4" mesh will sag more than you like, too. Once you add food, water, sand boxes... It's not very strong.
