Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I try to stay below 42% before lockdown, and below 65 at lockdown. My area is extremely humid, my property backs a small swamp. I have it set up now, and the hatch mat I made might be a bit damp, and I washed all the stuff and wiped down the inside, so the humidity is high, like 48% with no water in it. I hooked up all the stuff, so over the next 2 days I’m going to watch the readings. The temp seems spot on so far.
Temp is always spot on in the ovation. It's incredible.

Without the sponge one well would get you about 35 I bet. the issue is that the automatic dropper would need like the full well PLUS the water dropping in and sliding down to get you to 40. If it keeps trying to add water, eventually it overflows. I imagine in your environment one well with the sponge in it and about half full fo water will get you to 42.

I would use the sponge and set for like 38-40 just to watch what it does and make sure it doesn't fill. I THINK to get to 60 for lockdown, you'll have to fill the other well and then run the constant drip of the sponge well. You'll need to either add water during lockdown to the left side well, or, you'll need to add a bowl of water, or when the left side well dries up, the right side one will overflow.

Thank you! I’m going to try making a roll up of shelf liner and putting it in the well to add more surface area for evaporation.

Don’t know if anyone knows this but apparently if you wash your eggs and scrub them with a dish scrub pad it scrubs aall the spots off. Go figure
It's just bird paint...the spots.

I incubate down the street from you. I have had 100 percent hatch rates (I can brag because it is true) with lower humidity levels than this.
I am running mine dry for incubation this time and have been around 29-32 the entire time. I think I’ll do 50-55 at lockdown. 🤞🏻
