➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Good will or other thrift shops are your friend. I've seen some of these looking for a purpose. Will need one shorter than your incubator. Looks like a baby bottle nipple cleaner for the dishwasher. The one you put the bottle tops in. I've got a wire Easter basket that is a smidgeon too tall to work. Good luck.
Same neighbor also threw a couple rolls of this ghetto carpet like stuff away.
It looks brand new.
I used it for the Faker's stairs.

The wire thing is a basket for some kind of small mini deep fryer.
I just found it and took the handle off.
I did not think about putting something on top of it to weigh it down but that's a good idea.
I'm thinking they are probably not going to be in the basket long enough to move it though.
You know what I bet I could turn the basket upside down so that way I can just reach in and grab them out instead of lifting the basket up.

Yes! I better do this right now before the action starts.
I tried to put mine right way up, but other chicks pushed eggs against it and jumped up and got inside. (Hmmmm 2 empty shells, 4 chicks...) I thought yours looked heavy enough that they can’t move it. I’ve been putting a little sauce lid on top with rocks, then I use that lid and rocks for water in the brooder.

My little double silver is giving me hope. The last 2 I had died between days 3 and 4, and were looking droopy by now. It’s day 3 and this one looks better than ever. Wings aren’t drooping, I’ve seen it eating and drinking on its own, I’ve been putting it in a food bowl like once per hour, I left 2 open top bowls in there because he’s blind, even though by now I usually have them eating out of a container with holes in the sides. Since he’s so small he has gotten stuck in the container once so far, so I think he avoids it now.

The little snow angel is adorable getting in the bowls and kicking the food like the normal chicks. It has no idea what it’s doing or why, but it runs in and scratches like the big kids. I haven’t had to put it in the bowl at all today, and I didn’t need to offer it water because it’s been doing the parakeet waterer on its own. It’s very small, and it will probably end up with the next batch of chicks, or even growing out with the k dale chicks once they hatch. Here he is:

He sways his head back and forth, not sure if it’s neurological or because he’s blind, the other blind birds didn’t do this.
