probably not. Once a runt, usually, always a runt.I have two quail from my hatch who haven’t moved outside because they’re roughly half the size of the other birds. They’ve been separated from them for over a week now; they’re eating and drinking and seem healthy. One of them was the one we thought was sick because he was thin and doing poorly but ever since he’s been in the small guys pen he’s perked up.
Are they never gonna catch up in size? Never had this issue with chickens, seems really odd!
Quail will have a variety and will not breed true. We just select for the large ones, but the small ones come out of the gene pool too. Like white tigers and the like.
