Sooo, I have 12 eggs incubating at day 14 and I discovered that the power went out for some reason in the bedroom. :-( I don’t think it was for much more than an hour and temps dropped to about 84…will they be okay?? UGH!

I might try to do some presales. The builder has cashed the check for the plans, but it might be a bit before the rental property sells. I expect to break ground next spring, and I'm not sure how long the house will take to build. It's a big, fancy house. You have time to advertise a presale. May even be profitable before you receive the eggs.
Do you have space available? Or is it time to expand before the move?
Oooo, we will have to chat if you have any fun color hens you will be scaling back on when you get closer to moving! I'd love to add a few more rare colors to my hens in the futureI might try to do some presales. The builder has cashed the check for the plans, but it might be a bit before the rental property sells. I'll probably downsize my coveys before I move. I can always hatch more. I'll keep my celadon lines and my pansy fee lines, but the mixed pen will probably go. I'll build back up once I have that huge greenhouse and space for 8 or 9 pens.
I may have to chat with you sometime about building a house. I'm in escrow on a 5 acre parcel. Crossing fingers the soil boring test goes well, and the lot is buildable - it's in Florida. No more dry weather for me!I expect to break ground next spring, and I'm not sure how long the house will take to build.
Are you sure you like humidity? That, along with salt water in the air -- say goodbye to anything metal, including stainless steel. Everything we shipped from No Cal to Hawaii when we moved rusted.I see pips!

Yes! I love humidity. Strange I know. I think I will actually be further from the ocean as the crow flies than I am now. It'll be 18 minutes to the beach instead of 8. Yeah, everything rusts here too.Are you sure you like humidity? That, along with salt water in the air -- say goodbye to anything metal, including stainless steel. Less than half from the silver hatchedThe plan was for me to hatch 15 or so babies and sell up to 10. Only eight hatched and they're sold.
Good news is that the eight are healthy beauties.

Two of them appear to show some sliver. Three eggs came from the silver, so that's a good sign. It sure is going to be hard to say goodbye to these chicks. They're the first ones I'm selling.
Silvers tend to have a lower hatch and survival rate IMELess than half from the silver hatched![]()
Yes, I had only one of my silvers survive the hatch. We lost three just hours after they hatched and several never hatched. I think the silvers have more issues sadly!Silvers tend to have a lower hatch and survival rate IME
