Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I will have to check some of mine for that!!! Most of my boys like that have really brown heads…..my one ā€œspecialā€ little hen (Frieda) tried to jump into my arms today after I called her by name!!!! It was soooo cute!!!!
Ahhhh that’s so adorable! I want a quail that sweet and friendly! All of mine act like I’ve come to kill them all every day šŸ˜†

Okay, help with the color of this little dude! @Nabiki what would you guess? Do you have Grau Fee Celadons? That’s the closest I could come to guessing…or is it a rosetta with some leakage of some sort?? So pretty!
The big male in my celadon pen is a grau fee. The other two celadon boys that I have are silver tuxes.

I have several that are friendly but I don’t recommend the route that made Frieda extra friendly…..she is the one that got significantly injured by the pheasant and I moved her into the shed brooder. I moved her back out earlier than I should’ve and I found that she became significantly emaciated and I had missed her curled toes on 1 foot, so I spent extra time ensuring that she got help at the feeder and waterer. She finally seems to be doing better now but she still finds me almost every day! I didn’t have the heart to cull her even though I probably should have.

Ahhh okay so I’m not imagining it hehe. Yay, she is so pretty and nice! I hope she is nicer than Cruella, my mean Grau Fee hen. šŸ˜† I totally have a silver tuxedo too, the other tuxedo hasn’t decided yet if it’s silver or not. Yay for fun colored Celadons thank you again!

Yeah that doesn’t sound like the most ideal route 😁 poor sweet girl! I’m glad she’s better though and makes you feel loved too, as a thank you :)

Snowflake Bob's update:

Two days have past since the last one hatched! 7 of 14, 1 piped, then died, 50% HR not too bad considering the circumstances surrounding the shipping.
Haven't and won't crack open the non-hatched eggs...they stopped developing, as 1/3 do early, 1/3 late and 1/3 during hatching or after hatching but it won't tell me much anyway, other than that!

Had to put the last one in a shot glass to correct it's instability/leg issues, syringe dripped Nutri-Drench every two hours to keep it alive but it is doing fine now. Will move them to a larger brooder in a day or two.
