➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I 100% agree. They are completely disconnected with logic, reason, and real ethical treatment. It’s frustrating.
PETA and HSUS are abominations that follow their own selfish agendas. A lot of PETA policies are lunacy, they ultimately prefer to put an animal to sleep than have them be a slave to humanity.

HSUS takes money that should be donated to local humane societies and rescues, and uses those funds to lobby for commercial farming, and purposely spread false accusations about family and private farms, which the small operations can’t afford to fight, then, once those people lose their land and animals, they support that land going to the highest commercial bidder. I know people from dog boards that have had HSUS make accusations that their private rescue was a dog fighting ring, they couldn’t afford the lawyers and end up losing everything to pay fake fines, when all they were doing was vetting and rehoming otherwise unadoptable dogs from high kill shelters. Apparently anyone with dog kennels housing pitbull type dogs is fair game for these people.

As tempting as it is to join breeders groups and other groups on fb, I stay away. I know it’s fun and convenient, but I feel like the price is paid with a piece of your soul. I refuse to support fb, or its one sided narrative that conveniently silences anyone who disagrees with them on any issue they deem inflammatory, which is basically any issue that hurts any investors bottom line, and their investors are often the most morally disgusting people on the planet.

I can't stand PETA and I can't stand Facebook. Disinformation is the new norm for our generation.

My chicks will be a week old tomorrow, i separated them into 2 brooders yesterday. One is the k dale descendants, and the others are from my snowie celadon project.

These are the k dale descendants:

The blacks are not as black as their mom, I’m hoping the most black one is male, so I can cross him back to the mom. The father is blue, I think. When I first hatched them I believe enthusiast had said all the grays with dark legs (I only had the one) are probably blue. This generation of gray chicks all also have dark legs or dark spots on their legs/feet. The SSC grays all have light colored legs, even the grown adults that are more solid colored with barely any tux, have light colored legs. It’s very interesting.

I’m hoping to make snowies out of blues, so I can have a group that breeds 100% true snowie, so all with 2 copies of fee, 2 copies of blue, and a manchurian snowie roo over italian snowie hens. The final piece will be making them celadons. This is a long term side project to my SSC snowie celadons. The downside is that for this hatch, I got a variety from all 6 hens housed with the blue, but only one with Italian pattern, so he wasnt being too friendly with the pearl hen. I just candled my next batch, and it seems he’s only mating the black hen and the dark sparkly hen that looks like those chocolate manchurians. So he’s clearly a racist and won’t get busy with white or tuxy hens. I was suspicious when the black and dark sparkly developed bald patches on their heads and no one else did.

Here are the snowie celadon project birds:

Since the roo is Tibetan tux, there are many heading to the auction. I’ll be only keeping the silvers, and maybe the scarlet tux if it’s male, you can see it in the center, super small (half the size of the rest) and I find those tiny ones usually end up male. These guys are 100% celadon, so now I just have to clean up the snowie look. I only have 3 actual full celadon adult snowies, as I collect more snowie hens, I can pick and choose for cleaner speckles.

4 days old, and they have feathers. I know by now that they start getting them at 3 days, but it still amazes me how fast they grow. I think I'm going to need to add a third brooder soon. They're going to go outside before too much longer.

Idk how you can deal with so many! I had 49 in 1 brooder that size and I had to split them really early on, it was constantly getting immediately covered in a sheet of poop. Not to mention the water consumption.

Thorough clean every day, feed and water multiple times/day. This is the first time I've had this many, so we'll see. Hopefully I have someone who wants some of the SSC this week, so that will help.
