Day three, struggling a bit with humidity but other than that everything's going well. Only three days until first candling!

We may be down one chick sadly. Its still breathing but extremely lethargic. The other two arent anywhere around it and appear to be a bit distressed. Not sure whats up.

Day 4, everything the same. Getting really excited to candle on day 6!! I've worked really hard to sit on my hands and not candle any until then.

Well, tomorrow is hatch day. There are lots of pips, and I just heard a squeak from the incubator. The first chick is out. A pretty little calico fee.

I better finish getting the brooder ready. It's clean, I just need to put in shavings and turn on the heat lamp.

I have nutridrench, but sadly it was too late. it was literally half the size of the other two at 2.5 grams. But it seemed to do well until i came home from work today.

Will Join the hatch along again in 4-5 days saving up my eggs until I can set 30. this batch except for 2-3 of the cooler colors is for meat. It’ll be my first hatch strictly for meat

I'm glad my early one wasn't alone. That will help keep the little guy happy and quiet. No signs of others zipping, but I expect to find a bunch in the morning based on the number of pips I see.

I set 24 Jumbo Coturnix eggs on 7/24, mostly just to see if my roosters are doing their jobs. Currently, due to deaths, I have one cage with a 1/5 roo/hen mix, one with 1/4 and the other is 1/2. They all seem to be getting along just fine with those ratios. I candled yesterday and all but 2 of the 24 eggs showed signs of development. The rooster that's in with only 2 hens had been pretty badly beaten up by another male before I separated them and the last time I tried hatching any of the eggs from that cage, none developed at all. This time, all 6 from that cage are showing good progress.
