āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

Hatch Day:
Nine out of 23 so far and there's still plenty of activity in the incubator. Just moved these guys into the brooder. All my birds are jumbo wilds. The quarter is there so I can show friends and family just how tiny they are at hatch.

They're very cute! I would recommend putting something like grippy shelf liner in there, though. The smooth paper towels aren't good for their legs and you may see some splay leg develop.

Day 14: So.. I just candled my eggs. I know I wasn't meant to candle until tomorrow, but I did.

Two of the eggs have completely filled up the egg and have normal sized aircell.. but the third one is developing slower and has a huge aircell. It is moving a lot but only taking up about 2/3 of the egg that isn't aircell.

Here are some photos, sorry the eggshell is a bit porous and has lots of large spots. You can't see how much space the actual embryo takes up, though. The veins look normal.

Is this egg ok? I think this is normal. I'm planning on just leaving it alone.
