➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Thank you guys for summarizing some of the stuff in zack's videos :woot I'm too lazy to watch them, I am not an auditory processor.

I think a lot of us started raising birds because we wanted their experience to be as humane as possible - that's definitely going to make us set them up differently than someone who's main goal was to become a financially viable operation. The 3/square foot thing is nuts to me but if you asked around at the bigger hatcheries I'd guess it's pretty standard.

The feed thing was interesting - I kind of do the same thing now, but with 30% until 6 weeks and then tapered off to 25%. Its probably higher than necessary but I ain't ever going back to bumblefoot land. Like someone else mentioned it gives me *lots* of wiggle room for treats if I want, too (although they mainly only get mealworms and BOSS).

Wow Nutridrench really doesn’t have like anything in it.... that is surprising. :th
Nutridrench doesn't have niacin either. Hmmm.
You have to read the fine print. Nutri-Drench has pretty much the same components as Rooster Booster. Rooster Booster does list the amounts for more of the components. Nutri-Drench does list niacin as a component in the fine print.

I wonder if I could repaint this and use it as a quailie hiding spot.

Cut holes in cardboard boxes and juice jugs. Flower pots. Your silk plants from the roof work well. I cut bushes and do similar. Leaves fall off, I trim another one. Works well.
You forgot my dollar store cut baskets.
They love to hide in them.

I bet you don't have cookies and cakes around the house either. Oh, the travesty!

Cookies and cakes are round so you can balance your meals. Vegetables are harder to balance. :lau

:lau that’s true!!

Speaking of cakes, DB & FSIL forgot their wedding cake and cupcakes at the house so I’m gonna go get them and eat them this week haha or at least some of it.

Totally balanced meal ;)

P.S. Kiki once admitted to me that she used to eat Frito pies. the horror!!

I am a much more visual person myself. I have to see it usually.

And yeah, I think hatchery standards are definitely waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy different, almost borderline inhumane, but Zach of course really cares for his stock and I think he uses premade cages? Probably those cage towers he sells? So of course those advocate for the same amount or maybe even more birds than he puts in.

That said, I think the hatchery/commercial standard for chickens is 2 square feet per bird so definitely a bit more but of course that’s loose/breeders. Egg layers and meat birds it’s way less and cruel, especially the caged laying chickens.

Thanks! This is very helpful.
