Ahhh okay. That makes sense. Wait... taxes are already taken out? That sounds so much easier! Maybe I should just get a regular job lol

Yeah, thinking I’m going to. I figured a big company like that would be reputable though lol

I tried to read the IRS thing but they don’t have an article hah

Yes it is way easier to get a "regular" W2 type job/
Be someone else's employee.

That sucks though. It’s so boring and I love dogs so I want to do this but it’s all so confusing :hit taxes, permits, etc. thankfully from what I read I don’t need permits but it took me a bit to figure that out too. :barnie

Stop.
You are over thinking it.
"Taxes" are not a big deal.
If you want to do that then do it.

Permits and insurance and what ever else...I can not help you with.

Tons of people do the Rover thing. Kiks is right, you are overthinking it. You have insurance built into your contract with them. You will not need any permits. You will be considered self employed and will be taxed as such. Always plan on putting a third of your income towards taxes so save accordingly. Just sign up and do your thing. You will still be making money and will still be walking/caring for dogs. If this is what you want to do, just do it. :highfive:

:barnieReading all this tax stuff is so confusing. I have been reading a ton of stuff on the IRS website and the Rover links given (thanks, those were super helpful), MA website, PayPals reporting policy, etc. and articles on the IRS thing on like self employment, independent contractors, etc. and looking at some of the forms, mostly all links listed in the Rover site but some others I clicked on, and anyway, it is seriously giving me a headache and has me about in tears... :barnie embarrassing and stupid, I know. But there is just so much.... STUFF on the forms. Idk. It was hard to read almost. And then all the stuff in the articles and what I’d classify as and what forms to use and not to use and idk... probably overthinking it but there is just so much info. Too much info. And I have never done taxes before. This might be too much lol

Thank you both! This is really helpful and nice and I am sure you are both right, I am probably way overthinking it. But I have never filed taxes or had my own business (or even a job) before or anything like that so it is all just a little overwhelming. There is a lot to learn. That is where I have been this past hour. It is probably easier than it seems but it does not seem easy reading the bazillion articles about taxes. Idk. I just don’t want to do it wrong and get in trouble with the government or anyone. And wow a third!? that seems like a lot lol but I guess that is normal. But I am also trying to save 6 or 12 months rent to move out so that’s annoying but I guess necessary lol but thank you, I think I will sign up. It can’t be that hard. Soooo many people do it. But idk, it just all seems a bit complicated and overwhelming lol and then I also think that I could possibly make more with less work and faster just doing a regular job but idk, I really like dogs and animals and want to do this but it definitely is a lot of work too and not just free money so there’s that. Idk. I am probably overthinking it. I overthink everything lol

Sign up. Think of it this way. Brand new year (kinda, already February? Yikes) so you have all the way til April 2020 to figure it out! Over a year to educate yourself. You can't lose.
OR, get a job that cuts you a check so you don't have to think about it. Personally, I'd get a "real" job and sign up for Rover.
The food business is always a good time. Fun stuff, tons of debauchery!
Or a coffee box.

I never thought of it like that before. That is a long time to learn. Thank you! That makes me feel better lol Maybe I will do it after all. But I also don’t know if I’m organized enough for it, all the record keeping and such

That sounds fun! Lol I’ve heard food industry and retail suck though? Idk if that’s true. But they do always seem to be having the most fun lol it would be kinda nice to just be able to clock in and clock out and just be done with it/also be able to have fun or make friends on the job or stand there (some jobs) as opposed to my own business, constantly worrying about or keeping track of something even when I’m not working lol

If I did both, I could make soooo much money lol
