➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Just buy the cheap ones. No matter how much you think you’ll hatch, it usually isn’t as much. I thought I would be the same way, but it got exhausting and the hatching of boys is honestly really depressing since we can’t keep any currently.

Hmm, that’s true. Idk. I’m just paranoid I’ll have a bunch of really bad hatches with it and/or will want to upgrade later or something, in which case I kind of feel like I should just buy a decent one now. But then again, knowing myself, I think I would lose interest after just a couple hatches probably. It seems like a lot of work. But then again quailies are so cute. But yeah, the hatching boys thing is definitely worrisome too. With quail it’s not as bad cause they are quiet and I can always build more hutches but with chickens, if I ever hatch any, roosters are definitely a problem. And even with quail, I can only build so many hutches aha I suppose I should probably start out with a cheap one and see if I like it first then buy a better one later if I want. But I am worried that a few bad hatches might turn me off of it too. Idk. I might see what TSC has.

Those work very well. I stabbed Styrofoam incubators with a skewer to make a pilot hole as close to the top of an eggs height as I could in the side and stuck the probe in. If it's removed just put a piece of tape over the hole

Be ready to intervene if necessary at hatch if they are too big. It's a timing thing. It can be done and done quickly and with success.

Yeah, I am planning to but that makes it more expensive and not that much cheaper so I think I might just buy the IncuView.
Get a Little Giant still air with turners.
I know how to work that one and I will help you.

Seriously consider the FARM INNOVATORS PRO 4250. It runs about $130 @ TSC
Holds temp and humidity very well, good viewing windows. I was impressed with the quality. Mine works great.

This brand is cheaper on Amazon. Well, on my TSC website it is $149. The price may vary by store location, I don't know. At Amazon it is only $120.

Decent difference if you choose to go with it. And is available on Prime if that matters.

I almost went with that one or the Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 that is also offered at TSC.

It is cheaper thru the store than on Amazon (again, price may vary by location, Idk). It is small but still does a decent amount of eggs. Has a good viewing window to see. Induced airflow. Auto turner which automatically stops 3 days before hatching. It seemed like a good beginner option. I ended up going with a Hovabator. After all was said and done, I wanted a little bit larger of one. But that was just my personal preference and thinking ahead of what I see myself using it for.

Some of the guineas decided to leave their run this morning. I opened the door so they could get back into the coop. While I was standing beside a Rocky mountain Juniper, I heard a rustling beside and looked over to see this within 5' of my face.

Surprisingly it stayed put long enough that I was able to put the guineas back in their run and get the camera and take some pics.

After it moved to the spruce tree, seven Blue Jays decided to harass it.

I could have sworn that it said that it would be very happy to visit @Texas Kiki 's quail.
