➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I have been busy today. I had to go pay a couple bills and renew my car tags. The zipper busted on my purse while I was out so I had to go on the hunt for a new purse. I am such a picky person when it comes to purses. I finally found one that I liked. It was marked down to $47 from $78. Then it was 50% off of the lowest price. So with tax it only cost me $26. I love a good deal.
I ended up swinging by my Tractor Supply. They got in peep peeps today. Oh they were so tiny! I just watched them for a few. There was one little one that was walking on tip toes. Something wasn't quite right. I pointed it out to one of the employees. She said that she'd keep an eye on it. Poor thing. They got in a bunch of duckies too. So many fluffies. I had my eye on a cute little khaki campbell but I refrained and didn't buy anything.
I ordered an incubator a couple days ago.
I should get it the 5th. I want to try and hatch a few duck eggs. If I hatch Xena eggs then I can say they're pure Rouen. I am interested in the Rouen/Khaki mix and how that will affect egg laying. I'd like to have a couple more egg layers and Annabelle (khaki) has been an awesome layer. Then eventually I'd like to try some quail. I'm excited. 1 thing at a time tho. 2'ish more weeks until I get my new peepers!

Are any of these good? Trying to save a little from the cost of the Hovabator Genesis 1588 or the IncuView but I don’t want to get them if I’m going to have a bad hatch rate. Maybe I should just invest in the 1588 or IncuView. I don’t know.

And I know we established styrofoam usually isn’t good but they really are so cheap as opposed to almost $200....

Did you build a brooder? Do you have a place for a brooder

And with a lot of things I tend to buy it and then not use it or forget about it BUT. I really really want quail and once I get them, I will want to hatch and expand my population/numbers of quail and possibly hatch chickens too and if I ever move somewhere else, I will probably hatch my own chickens too so I have a feeling I will be using an incubator a lot unlike most things I buy mostly because I feel like I will get a major hatching bug LOL

I didn’t build one yet but I am planning to soon. I need to build one for my new chicken chicks anyway. Although I am thinking I am going to brood those in the coop or run. But the quail I’ll probably brood in their adult cage. Idk. I am going to build cages soon. And yes, I have a place for one. Lots of potential places.

Yeah, I am planning to but that makes it more expensive and not that much cheaper so I think I might just buy the IncuView.

Just buy the cheap ones. No matter how much you think you’ll hatch, it usually isn’t as much. I thought I would be the same way, but it got exhausting and the hatching of boys is honestly really depressing since we can’t keep any currently.
