➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Thanks!! That makes sense!! And wow that’s a lot of calories and fat! I don’t think I’ve ever had Brazil nuts
There has been a shortage of Brazil nuts in the US due to weather conditions in Brazil. Brazil nuts used to be in the deluxe nut mix...not so the past few years.

Okay here’s what I think is an air cell (it’s hard to see in these, it’s a bit darker in person but still kinda light) and the other egg with what I think is a near perfect air cell. Also, you can’t really see, but in the first egg, there is something dark and swishy moving around which I think is the yolk? So I’m pretty sure the thing on the side is the air cell? Included some pictures of the end so you can see there is no air cell on the ends. At least that I can see. And I found a dark area to get better pictures. But am I correct in assuming that is the air cell? And if so... totally weird, right??

Yes, that is a side air sac and most chicks do not hatch. Happens infrequently, but can with a hen that has been off lay for a long period.

IMO they're :sick

Seems I’m not missing anything then!!

Huh, that’s interesting. On both accounts. You are right, have not seen Brazil nuts in those mixes even though I recently bought one. Wonder if they will ever be back. And thanks! Interesting for sure. I had never seen it before and also don’t have much experience with hatching or incubating or anything so I wasn’t sure if it was actually the air cell or if I was wrong or what ha must just be because she hasn’t laid for a while then? And/or age? Thankfully we don’t have a rooster so won’t hatch anyway but if I ever do get one, now I know what to look for ha

It is such a beautiful today. My son is the best man at his friends wedding and it’s an outdoor one. It couldn’t be a more beautiful day but man I’m sweating bullets already. I’m thankful there’s a breeze. Here’s a pic of my son and I.

:love:love Awww!

Um...my grandpa used to call these something very different.
As did mine. He had an almond orchard and a few pecan and walnut trees but at the holidays, there was always a bowl of brazil nuts. Because those were considered exotic, I guess? And I didn't know what to call them but I knew his term wasn't correct so I just called them those big nuts that are hard to crack for the longest time.

Was the word 'toes' part of what he called them?
