Adding salt is not about making something taste salty. The proper amount of salt will bring out all the flavors but will not make it taste salty.

I use fresh everything and no salt... You can cook without salt and it tastes just as good. We pretty much use salt on nothing. We add herbs or lemon to make everything taste salty with no added salt.
