The trick is to not want one! Then you end up with two! I wouldn’t ever give these two hens to anyone for brooding, they are chick killers unfortunately. I would only use them for incubation and hatch the chicks out myself.

Yeah I'm not a fan of wire but my quail aren't meant to live long lives so I think it will be fine.

Yes, one killed my first chick from my favorite hen. Only one has done it but they are sisters, and the other hen will chase down anything that is smaller than her and attack it so not even willing to chance it.

I had my jap quail on wire the entire time I raised them. The valley quail on the other hand had 10x20 pens made into habitats like pheasants.
