Hey Kiki, we've been debating adding quail in the future. What do you think? They swallow whole mice!
Yes!!!! I have quail orders coming out of my butt right now.Hey Kiki, we've been debating adding quail in the future. What do you think?![]()
Nothing has happened that we know of. Everyone else is fine, we do have one hen that lays smaller eggs but she doesn't keep weight on well so that's part of her issue. We have two oyster shell stations that are always full so it shouldn't be a calcium issue unless she isn't eating any. This hen has been laying eggs consistently since she started laying, and we have been finding quite a bit of feathers that look like they could be hers so she may be going into molt. We are keeping a close eye on her.@littleprairieheartsfarm -- Did anything unusual happen to stress her in the last couple of days. Sometime a stressed bird will react by passing out a egg too quickly -- hence a soft shelled egg. Regardless, the extra calcium is a good idea and can't hurt. Sometime late in the season the hens are getting a bit depleted from several months of egg laying and a little extra calcium helps.
But . . . I would keep a close eye on the hen. Sometimes soft shelled eggs can indicate the onset of other problems in the reproductive system, or another problem like mites or parasites. If the problem persists after the extra calcium, I would give her a good look over.
Quail orders as in actual quail or eggs?Yes!!!! I have quail orders coming out of my butt right now.
I love dust bath time! Otis will sit up after rolling all over and make a fist and wipe his nose. It’s so stinking cute.I baby sat 2 chins for a neighbor long ago... They were so soft is right. I can see why people like coats made of them.
They loved dust baths and were as messy as chickens taking one LOL
Also, have you had any issues with Coryza or worried about it at all?Yes!!!! I have quail orders coming out of my butt right now.
