➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Definitely increase the potassium and watch the salt.

So the SO has food causing numbers issues.
Daughter has lost 40 pounds on the KETO diet. Cut her carbs with no sugar, no bread, selected fruits and vegetables and a changed a few more things.
Got her best heart scan report.
I'm thinking it's in his blood... Both parents and all hundred of his aunts and uncles have high BP and diabetes.

@honanbm , @WVduckchick Conan and everyone else - wound up with a stray Rouen hen. Keeping her isolated for a week quarantine. DD decided we needed ducks. We can debate whether I'm spoiling her later.

Options:
1. Hatching would take a month. Considering.
2. Several craigslisters have ducklings and drakes for sale. Not a fan of drakes, but an option. Rouens, cayuga-mallard cross, muscoy, Swedish, Appleyard.
3. Have Kiki hatch baluts. Never been more tempted.
4. Have Kiki kidnap pond ducks. Caveat here is that Batty and I want to film it. This is my preferred option. Batty will bring her hand crank movie camera down. Think Keystone Cops. We need a piano player. $50 says Kiki ends up in the pond. :lau

What breed duck would you suggest?

Requirements for a backyard duck hider.
1. Quiet.
2. Eggs. Eggs would be great.
3. Meat. Although several other household members have decided we don't eat pets. So the new ones will be meaties.
4. Vicious with great big fangs to change the mind of household members. See #3. No geese.
5. Mow the yard. I'm dreaming.:thumbsup
I will go look for the babys today and tomorrow and come Thursday I will visit The Man. How many do you want?

Makes more better sense.

Everyone talks up the muscovy. Crazy Lady thinks they are vicious. She wants the cuddly ones (???).

Adult ducks. 3 for $50. Rouens.
Ducklings $5 a pop.
See who responds. Most are an hour away. Not that desparate.

This is a wild detour. But all according to the prophecy.
My feed store...new shipment on Thursdays from Ideal.
I don't know what kind but all are cute.

The place that I had process my Pekin drakes mainly have Muscovies. They swear by their meat and sell to some of the local restaurants. The Pekin meat was ok. My ducks were on the small side. Pekin eat like crazy! Our food consumption went down tremendously once they were out of the picture but we also switched to pellets instead of crumbles. I think that helped as well. Not as much waste. My Rouen, Xena, has gotten a lot more talkative over the last few months. I dont know if it's because she is getting older or because my Mallard, Luna, died. Even so, it isn't loud quacks. It's mostly grunt like quacks. While my trio (as well as 17 chickens) eat grass, we still have to mow the pens to keep the grass under control. My ducks like to make holes searching for bugs in the mud. Holes are everywhere! That is just my experience so far. I love them. They make me smile. :D

How many can you catch from the park? Thinking sooner is better, so hatching will be next year. Maybe never, but thinking next year.

Batty - get the camera ready!
:barnie:barnie:barnie
I can't find the babies. I'm here now.
