Culled #6, one shoulder held much higher than other, curled toes on left foot, leg splayed, unable to right itself and one eye was bulging and screaming for all he was worth... Rather than go through what I went through this last hatch, only to lose them anyhow... I put it out of its misery. #7 had no pip, no vibration when touched or held and a very dark shell (making it impossible for me to candle properly), eggcropsy... one very wet and dead chick.
:hugs i understand your frustration and pain!! cots typically hatch at day 17-18 (depending on whether you count set date as day zero or one) within normal to have a small percentage hatch day 16 and small percentage hatch day 19-21 (however later hatches tend to have more issues and higher probability cull). a majority hatching before day 17 signifies higher temp but not so high that kills embryo.....delayed hatches tend to signify cool spots (below 98 but not so low as to kill embryo) problems such as curly toes usually related to humidity being too high while more significant problems such as crooked neck, and neurological typically “stuck or shrink wrapped chicks”, wrong-end pippers etc. severity of defect determines whether or not to cull as it’s difficult to make that decision! same same with trying to make decision on when/if to assist!

mine in “lockdown” bator #2 is running about 38% RH so i’m leaving at dry hatch for now.....maybe raise slightly to 45-50 on Sunday. temps look stable at 98-100 as best i can tell with outdoor temp. all my candling of 19 look good...similar to your pics! I trashed my 3 “wishful” thinking eggs. looked at buttons tonight too....some air cells still “wonky” but saw movement in some so still hopeful for good hatch at halfway point!

I'm not raising my humidity until I see and external pip and then will only raise it to about 45%.

:fl

@ketojenn What are you planning?

I've been having fast hatches, curled toes, usually on one foot, splayed leg (usually only one leg), bulging eye (again, usually only one eye bulging), and constant crying and failure of the chick to get upright or maintain an upright posture when I place them upright. The crying continues until they die (usually occurs within 3 days of hatch despite all efforts to help them). I haven't had wrong end pips, thank God for small favors. I've been dry incubating as I live in the tropics, so have high ambient temperatures with high humidity, every day, all day, all year.
I reduced the incubator temperature this last hatch, and the severity of the problems was significantly less pronounced, but working to get NO problems. This coming hatch has had the temperature reduced another half-degree Fahrenheit. I'm sure to find the sweet spot on this incubator, the sooner the better!

It's currently sitting at 39% and it's going to be very humid the next few days. I'm tempted to just leave it.
I only raised humidity this last batch at lockdown (day 15)... but the humidity in the incubator was between 45% to 55% during the entire dry-hatch phase of the hatch. This batch HATCHED on day 15, lockdown day! so I'm uncertain if I should even bother with increased humidity for the final phase. My thoughts on the matter are that I see others raising their humidity to levels lower than my normal everyday humidity. So confused.

Don't bother with increasing the humidity. Mine runs 30% inside with Air Conditioning. I bump it to 40% if nature doesn't do it.

You will be fine. :fl

Can you possibly lower your humidity closer to 30% ?

I think you would have less problems if you were able to get your humidity down.
