I'll post a late pic of my last chick to hatch late Thursday night, this is what I thought would be a golden comet but when it hatched I was like... um... this is not a golden comet, so I contacted the lady who gave me the eggs and was like this is not what I thought it would be. Turns out I heard her wrong to begin with, I have a sweet golden cuckoo maran!

I put more quail eggs in the bator... my 1 week old quail can fly out of the brooder that’s 3 feet tall. Quail develop so fast!!! I love them a ton

Last night I confirmed that 5 of my eggs will hatch if they do not quit or have problems. Can you guys tell me how to tell if the eggs quit.

I just candled for the last time before lockdown and I saw some movement of the one chick so homestretch! It's on day 19 and I was supposed to start lockdown yesterday but there was a small hiccup in day counting and there was a what-day-of-the-week-is-today situation. I couldn't tell if it had internally pipped yet because I saw a small shadow shape when I candled but it didn't quite look like the pictures I've seen. I know it's too early but my incubator was around 38.1 for longer because of the eggs I put in later so I'm not sure if that would affect the development timeline. Hopefully it doesn't and it hatches on Tuesday because tomorrow I'm supposed to go hiking and I don't want to miss it!

So I ended up with 4 from 7 Leghorn eggs. Wow after hatching bantams for so long these chicks look huge! and so clumsy with their big long legs lol

On the go I have...

5 eggs under a first time broody that are due to hatch this Wednesday (Big Boy mutt rooster x ISA Brown)

6 Bantam Wyandotte eggs in bator due to hatch 12th

12 White leghorn eggs in bator due about the 24th

Looks like its going to be a busy start to the Spring!
