First duckling is out! One is starting to zip

my lavender Araucanas hatched on Friday and they are just the cutest! I got 6 out of 10 which isn’t bad I think. 1 didnt hatch in the incubator and the other 3 got squashed under my broody hen
These were hatched for a friend as she wanted them, I’m tempted to keep a few though as they do sweet

so I washed the incubator out and filled it up again with blue lace barnevelders and a mix of orpingtons all set for the September hatch along

So one of the ducklings started zipping late last night and has not progressed for the past few hours.

Update on my Murray McMurray order.

Most of the chicks are healthy. I have had some losses and some slow chicks.

Lost:
2 Delaware Broilers

Slow/sickly:
1 Andalusian
1 Speckled Sussex

Out of 37 maybe that isn't so bad...

My Sulmtalers are doing well and are robust and healthy 5 hatched.

And yesterday I went down to Corvallis, OR and picked up my ducks from Holderread Farms .

So happy!

Question for the experienced hatchers.

Weight on day 10 of maran eggs. Most eggs lost 4gms. I'm keeping humidity between 40-45% as advised.
***Edited to add: wt loss was 4gms total since starting weight.

Could see 2 air cells and I circled them as best I could. Pic of them.

Am I on track or do I need to adjust something else?

I also have another group in the same incubator, also marans. But I'm going to keep them together and hope for the best.

Delaware and Sussex (I have the same in my brooder, although my Sussex are light). Sounds like you might be doing a meat bird experiment (I know I am)

My 8 Bantam Wyandotte eggs are going into lockdown tonight

Only 2 ducklings made it. I think because they hatched so early, they weren’t even in lockdown, and the humidity was low when they pipped which made it hard for them.

My parents (bless them for trying) didn’t think they needed help, but i knew straight away when I got here they’d need assisting.

so 1 hatched on its own
1 needed a tiny little help at the final stage of zipping
1 pipped but couldn’t break the membrane
1 dead in shell (looked like bacteria)
1 probably dead in shell but will leave it until the morning to be sure

hopefully going to collect some day old runners to raise with these two on

I’m going to clean the incubator and return it to the owner. Only ever got 1/3 hatch rate of local eggs with it and they were all early because the temp seemed to either be slightly too warm or way too low.

Officially done hatching for 2020. Bring on the broodies in spring 2021!
