Weeelll .... not technically ... I mean, the breeder also bred Shelties and said they were going to get out of Goldens and just go with Shelties. And I really wanted a Golden after I had to put my female Sheltie down (she was 13, about blind and her arthritis had gotten so bad she could no longer go up the stairs from my basement bedroom any more). So it wasn't a rescue per se, just a purchase. But once I got her we realized how miserable her life must have been.Wow, is she a rescue then? My neighbor has a 16 year old american pit bull terrier x staffy rescue who had 8 known litters and lived her whole life on a chain constantly getting bredBut now she has a much better life which is good

She didn't eat for five days and lost a visible amount of weight. She wouldn't go outside by herself for MONTHS. Rain or shine, I had to go out with her. I mean, just being out of her kennel was traumatizing for her. But then... as she started to trust me, she just blossomed. She began to RUN and get the zoomies outside. She'd never had so much room to run! She lets herself out the dog doors. She doesn't bother the chickens or cats. She's still shy and barks at strangers, but her bark means, I'm scared, please don't come near. It doesn't mean, you're an intruder and if you come closer I'll bite you.
