10 weeks/ sick lethargic

Absolutely I’ll do it! He’s still pretty pitiful but seems to have more weight to him. Thanks for reassuring me about his foot. What would you suggest for the cage bedding? I feel like these wood chips are hard to keep clean and not track all over the house? I heard puppy pads but I’m not sure I want to buy a big pack and worry he will just sit in his poop then. Now that he’s actually eating I’m waiting for the mess!

Phew ok like a vitamin deficiency. But I won’t give vitamins w corid. I’m doing my last corid drench Tuesday so after that just treat the water for 5-7 days? He’s definitely getting more fiesty and I’m off the next 3 days so I can keep an eye on him
Treatment20% Powder9.6% Liquid
For 3-5 days 1.5 teaspoons per gallon2 teaspoons per gallon
then for 7-14 days1/3 teaspoon per gallon1/2 teaspoon per gallon

I don't like poop.
I was just changing paper towels ever 30 minutes all day long for a few days for ducklings.
I will not tell you what you want to hear.

The shavings are fine.

I’m still doing a drench so no I didn’t put it in the food. I made a mixture of yoke, bone broth and kaytee. Ive never heard anyone use bone broth but I know it’s got electrolytes in it. I also have some corid in the water. But I ask my husband if he was still shaking and my husband said he’s not bearing weight on his left foot. I’m like.. ok we don’t need any more problems! I checked it out. No cuts, black areas or anything obvious. What do you guys think of his stance? Any significance? Hard to see with the feathers on his feet but he’s bearing all his weight on one foot.

Bone Broth...good stuff. I cook oat groats, brown rice, barley etc. with it. Then, feed it to the chickens. High in glutamine, which is healing for the intestines.

The chickens love it.:drool

Greetings Jjdesmo11,

I use artificial turf mats in the hospital cage. Butcher paper or puppy pads in the food area, and a grass mat on the other side. I use two grass mats, that I switch out for cleaning. They can be hosed off and dry quickly. The chicken seems to be very comfortable sitting on them. Sprinkle a little PDZ on the poops till you can clean the crate, and the chicken doesn't get poop on them.

That wood chip bedding is OK in the coop, but messy in the hospital crate.

What is PDZ?

What is PDZ?

PDZ is a mineral formed by volcanic discharges, its scientific name is zeolite.

It is non-toxic and is used to absorb ammonia and neutralize other unpleasant odors produced by animal waste.

It comes in a powder or granular form. I use the granular form, which is similar to cat litter, in texture.

This is just one brand.

He’s better. Still weak. Had a more solid poop and clear liquid in the cage. I gave nutri drench via syringe this morning and normal corid dose. I’ve been “ forcing” him to drink. Is that normal? Hes still unsteady and sorts falls over. He’s been eating yokes mixed w bone broth and he also has been eating some dry food. Just got him out to get him to drink. Always fresh water with corid and probiotic and added a little nurti drench ( is that ok?) and he pooped. I’ll post a pic. I’m going on vacation this Sunday and worried he won’t be able to join the flock by then! Worse case scenerio I take him with me? I’d hate to let him go back and not watch him for a week. What would you do? I optimisticly assumed he would recover by now. Was able to rehome 7 new hens/cockerels so we are not over crowded anymore but don’t want to stress him again and leave him
