I have never heard of such a thing. I do understand how it is trying to reduce the unwanted Easter chick problem, but now maybe those same people buy 12 instead of 1-2! It seems like one of those laws that is well intentioned, but doesn't do what it should.

It's easy to find someone to go in on an order with you. I found 2 people in the same boat (Urban wanna-be chicken farmers) as me and we went to the feed store together and got our girls. It's not that big of a deal.

The NH law is also a really poorly written law.
It reads to me that you can't sell chicks under 4 weeks old.

Since my 7-month-old EE just died suddenly today

I am unexpectedly contemplating whether I would want to buy 2 chicks at the feed store this spring.
