13 year old boy told he cant fly flag on his bike...

Fair enough.
None of them are enforceable and your constitutional rights are not protected when you agree to sign up to a privately owned webpage. You're really reaching. Let's just consider this subject beat to death and move on. Maybe you can give an update on the backpack story in the other thread.

The Supreme Court has said that BURNING the American flag is a form of free speech, The flying of the flag DOES have certain protocols- it should be the highest, should be lit if flying at nite,etc... While I have the greatest respect for OUR flag( the stars and stripes ) and for all the men and women who have died or been wounded defending it, I have no problem with someone flying another country's flag in the U.S.!

this is all true, but my point is not someone flying their flag......but the fact someone being offend by someone flying the American flag here.

So is pornography and a whole host of other behaviors which doesn't say much for the worth of the ruling.

Yes, the issue that has people upset here is the fact that the kid was told he couldnt fly the fly because other folks had a "problem" with it..
Instead of doing the RIGHT thing first... they basically defended the idiots that threatened the kid..and let them get their way.
VERY bad choice,..IMO
Yeah sure, the school did change their minds and let the kid fly his flag.. but gee,..maybe its was because they now had the nation up-in-arms watching them?

Oh and just so you know.. someone that knows this kid PM'd me and said that the kid is still getting flack from those idiots... nice huh?
Guess the school really isnt stepping up now that all eyes are off them??..
Just my opinion..as usual. :D

Oh and i dont have a problem with others flying their countrys flags here in the US...but they had better be flying the US flag too!

Isn't there a post which gives a fully version of what happened? We were told that the Mexican children were harassed in some way when they took their national flag to school and the Principal, rightly or wrongly, banned all flags.

I wrote the other day saying that I thought the boy looked concerned by the attention he was being given in front of cameras. The PM you received seems to confirm that he had good reason.

What a pity that a bit of national pride from people of two countries has turned into this.

We have a group here called La Raza (sp) that believes among other things that the southwest U.S. is Mexican territory and has an agenda. I will try find some links about it.

http://www.nclr.org/

Help me, please. I've looked through that website and can't find anything about La Raza claiming US territory, not even New Mexico. Where is the reference?

The organisation seems interested in helping Latinos integrate into US society and also protecting their legal rights. If those are their true aims, I think it's very positive, especially considering how many Latinos now live and work in the US.. It's a pity that immigrants to European countries haven't had similar organisations.

You are absolutely right. La Raza was active in the area of California where I am from, and their aims were all positive. As far as I know, they are an excellent organization.

Thanks for confirming that.

I am impressed by the presentation of their website, the professional tone of what they write and the quality of their English. Good luck to them, unless someone can still show that their aim is civil war!
