15 chicks=what size brooder?

If money is no object? Go with the biggest that will fit in the area you plan to keep them.

You can always use it for your next batch.
Beware of chicken math.

X 2 - always give them the most space/biggest brooder/etc you can -- there is nothing to lose by giving them "too much" room (no such thing, imo) but so many issues that can arise by giving them too little.

Money really shouldn't be an object... if you are brooding in a secure place. Appliance boxes are free simply for asking. And you've got to have the heat source anyways. The nice thing about appliance boxes is that they can easily be recycled. simply haul the whole brooder to the compost bin, or deep mulch garden/orchard/hugelkulture when you are done with it. If you're building a brooder, think: MULTIPURPOSE. 4 years ago, I built a 3 x 6 tractor/brooder. It gets used every year for one purpose or an other.

Very true. I simply can't see the point of buying a big steel tub or whatever to brood chicks in unless you will brood a lot, or the tub will have another purpose once you are done brooding. My brooder coop can be closed off from the rest of the flock or it can be opened up and becomes an extension of the run. If I have to brood indoors, as I am doing right now, I use my dog crate, which I already have and has the dual purpose of being used for the dogs or isolating/transporting birds.
