Aw! She's drying off! (She doesn't have feathered legs either, I would think that they would be at least partially feathered, although the gene might be recessive, and so she just didn't inherit them)
I am enjoying a pretty relaxed afternoon. I would like to go out an work in my garden, but it's raining off and on, so I guess that isn't happening

Oh I see the feathers now. Maybe the rooster was carrying the single comb gene?:idunno
Possibly  since it takes only one copy of the pea comb gene to make a pea comb. If I remember correctly, he got the brahma from a breeder who was selling out at a swap. So it's possible the brahma wasn't 100% purebred.

For anyone who would like to know, Egg Man sent me a list of all of the possible mothers of the chicks. Breeds are as follows:

  • Light Brahma bantam
  • Black Wyandotte bantam
  • Brown Leghorn bantam
  • Black Fizzled Cochin bantam (never lays)
  • Rhode Island Red
  • Rhode Island Red x Brown Leghorn
More words to add to the Egg Man dictionary
  1. Wiendot [Wyandotte]
  2. Frzled [Frizzled]
  3. Chochen [Cochin]
  4. Dosent [Doesn't]
  5. Wight [White]
  6. Wightish [Whiteish]
  7. Rubby [Ruby]
  8. Rubey [Ruby]
