16-mo old BO hen internal layer? update: Paris necropsy pics (graphic)

I will try to give her some electrolyte solution and egg/yogurt. She is still damp from the bath, though. Had her wrapped in a towel to keep warm.

Ohhhh, I do hope she perks up for you. I hate that anyone has to go thru the worry of a sick baby. Good thing you know how to give injections. I am not sure I could do it. She's in good hands, that's for sure.

She wouldn't eat anything, but did take a tablespoon of electrolyte solution. I will try again in 30 minutes. She is exhausted, so I want to let her sleep a bit.

How is your baby doing today?

she actually peeped when I picked her up this morning. She seemed like less of a limp lump too, walking and puffing her feathers a bit. She barely took electrolytes, though. I guess she and I will have scrambled egg for breakfast, and see how that goes. I wish I could be here during the day to keep feeding her and giving her fluids. Think I could take a chicken to school? I should check the weather to see if it's going to be hot in the car.

Paris looks the same tonight. She still doesn't want to take much fluid, and won't eat. I will try something else, and give her another Pen G injection. I guess I will need to draw off some of the ascites fluid. She isn't pooping, but she isn't eating either. Her comb is a little less purple. Still, not very hopeful.

Always be hopeful Orp! Go with what you think is right for your girl. Hope she recovers......dang those birds....get right to your heart don't they?

My girls love yogurt and grapes chopped up. The fruit gives them some liquid they might not get otherwise.....and tomatoes..lots of liquid and fun seeds too!

Keep trying!!!!

do you give ACV in their water? I give it to my chickens for general health, but do I use it? NO........but I should............

she wouldn't touch yogurt or scrambled egg today. But I just tried scratch, and she actually got up and pecked at it quite a bit. Maybe I will add some scratch to yogurt as a topping.

I seriously considered taking mine to work with me to make sure she eats. I put her back out with the others yesterday, hoping that would help her spirits. She seems so sad. She's not eating, but is drinking, which is good, but another day of no food will probably not be good. Vitamin water is better than being dehydrated, but she needs some solids, and I can't interest her in anything.
Tonight when I got home from work, she was lying down in the coop. I don't know if that is good or bad. But it looks less pathetic than her just standing there.

As for your girl, peeping is good. Hopefully she will eat for you. Just enough to build up energy, to make her want to eat more- and more.

Hi neighbor i have a sick bird too, lethargic twisted neck wobbly. I've follwed many links and I've given her vit E and b complex as it suonds like it's a neurological thing, maybe vit defficiaency which i don't understand, she too is very small compared to the others who are just getting crazy big. She's in the warm garage. Hope you and I both have a better tomorrow.

I sure hope she pulls through. My blue Orp hen, Skye, has been in the house in Zane's playpen for days now with a crop that will not empty. It's not impacted or sour, but it just will not go down after olive oil and daily massages. She is refusing water and food, though today, she did decide that applesauce was worth some attention. It's so hard when you try and try and nothing seems to work, I know. When they molt, it makes everything ten times worse.
