19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

I got chicks back in February and then a week later decided to get 4 RIR hens so I didn't have to wait for eggs. Over a month later we finally got an egg. Out of 4 full grown already laying hens I was only getting 1 or 2 eggs a day. My Leghorns started laying at 16 weeks old, so now I'm getting 3-5 eggs a day. I can't wait til my 3 EEs start laying. They are 19 weeks old. Good luck everybody!

My white leghorn gave me a smaller then small egg yesterday

That's OK with me, as I am in no hurry and the days have been so hot, must be hard on the hormones. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the sympathy! I don't know. I keep saying I'm going to rehome him. I even put him on CL and mentioned him on the local forum on this site. But I could also just take him down to my feed store, and so far I haven't... I have at least two other, possibly three other cockerels. I will keep one or possibly two, but I'd prefer to keep ones that I'd want chicks from. I don't have Silkie hens, and don't really want to make Silkie mixes... On the other hand, I got him with a pullet he grew up with, my Light Brahma, and they are buddies. I feel bad sending him off on his own, and leaving her in the pen with other chickens that all came in sets of two or more, as they seem to form their closest attachments young. But maybe it's okay. we'll see. He's a really cute little guy.

Well my year old B. Rocks (2 female one roo) were laying about a egg a day between them untill I let her highness set on ten eggs.... six babies later they are too busy taking care of their young to lay... Her Highness likes to attack my feet when i go to feed them and the other female is as sweet as can be and lets me pet her.... but boy do i miss the fresh eggs.... hopefully not much longer till they are laying again.

I have 12 girls and 2 roos. 2 of them are only 6 weeks old. It'll be a while, don't ask my why I absolutely HAD to take those home on Monday. Sigh. The rest of the girls are mostly 16 weeks (not too much longer!!) with a few younger, coming in at 15 and 14 weeks. Guessing we'll get some eggs right around the time we start getting dark at 4pm

2 Campines at 25 weeks, 2 Faverolles cross at 28 weeks and some other slightly younger pullets about 20 weeks... NO EGGS! I am in New Zealand and it is late winter, days are getting longer though and much warmer. I have 54 chooks of various ages and today I got only 4 eggs!!! No one seems to be reliably laying every day either. Is there anything you can do to help them along?

Are you getting at least 14 hours of daylight? Chickens need that much light to produce eggs. Can you add supplemental lighting in their coop in the early mornings?

We are at about 12-13 hours... maybe a few more weeks! Just rather keen on seeing my ladies lay again (and get things ready for the breeding season!)

We have 12 (5 roos grr) that are 18 wks and 18 (1 roo) that are 9 wks no eggs yet but they started squatting a few days ago and their combs are starting to get darker on a few so i think we are getting close with the older ones Yay

I to was waitin and waiting and started asking friends that have olderbirds and that laid before and they told me that high heat and humidity. Sometimes dela y the egg laying temps here in wv where in the 100o and these last week or so temps dropped to low 80s and low and behold my laides stared a few days ago and they are. 23 weeks. The oddest thing was. I have gotten a triple yoke egg onnce and a few double yokes . This is the best waiting game I have played and it has paid off
