Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

The Buckeye cross SLW would give sex linked chicks.. with cockerels being white at hatch and pullets being orange/brown. I think they would be considered red sex links. but there ya have it!

I'm not sure why your pics are labeled speckled Sussex when no SS was mentioned in the parent line up.

Congrats on your cute babies and best wishes finding them new homes! 🥰

The black chicks are the Marans crosses not the SLW, as explained above.

Oh! Thank you for pointing out the speckled sussex mistake! I do have a speckled sussex hen, I just forgot to put it in the list with so many breeds! I will be sure to do that!

The reason I put both SLW and maran chicks is because I am unsure of what they are. Some of the black ones when they grow up end up having brown designs all over them. I am unsure of if it is a Maran or a Wyandotte which is why I put the "/" there.

So would the white chicks I called white sussex be SLW cockerels? And some of the orange-browns be SLW pullets? I have a batch of chicks that hatched before these chicks and I have yet to see any signs of Wyandotte genes but I know that there has to be.

Would you like to see an older example of each variant? I take weekly pictures of their growth.

Thank you! I hope they can find homes!
