1st Time Incubating, Detached Air Sacs, Final Update on Detached eggs

Sigh. Took it out, dropped it, broke it on the floor, prevented my dogs from scarfing it down, threw it away, along with everything it touched that could be thrown away and cleaned the rest.

Then decided that maybe I should leave them alone for today.

Well, actually I did it then came back to read my mail/byc and read your post. I had been out all day and came home and went to turn the eggs and noticed even more ookiness on this egg.

So, not your fault. I thought I remembered that the weeping meant bacterial contamination and decided I didn't want to risk it. So you are absolved.

Didn't really want to drop it either though.

I went back and read that someone had a weeping egg that was black inside. eeeeeewwwwww. Mine was just regular egg colored. Glad I didn't wait till it was worse or smelly or anything like that. That would have been really special to drop on my floor.

I'm thinking you need a hug too.

Yeah, that would have been bad if you had left it and gotten some rotten things going on in there. We should start a thread for these eggs...hatching buddies.

Oh goodness, that reminds me, I need to put these on the calendar. Will know my hatch date in a min. We will be hatching close though.

Well mine's the 13th, and the 16th or 17th (depending on whether I pretend I let them rest 24 hours). I do still have that I'm an idiot staggered hatch to deal with.

So what do hatching buddies do?

And, it's not the first egg to land with a splat on my floor!

Juggled this one for a while first though.

15 to go.

Weight loss for the first bunch is a little bit low. I'm averaging 4.5% loss for 7 days. But, the humidity was a little bit high at first so I'm hoping that this is close enough and will work out in the end.

Candling is still not happening. The same egg that I could see good development in before, I can't see a thing now. I think the new bulb just isn't bright enough.

Whats the worse that could happen if you dont set it? It doesnt develope! Go ahead and set! I've had them develope but quit shortly after but I've had a friend have them hatch, she just kept the large end of the egg up higher.

I have the detached air sac eggs (minus Mr. Weepy, which obviously would have been a roo anyway

) upright in egg carton cells. Who knows what will happen? Either way, I figure I'll learn something.

Go to Hatching and Incubating now..I just posted a couple things. It's called Need hatching buddies for on or around the 18th..
We just talk about how our hatch is doing, share how things are going, like you dropping eggs on the floor!!
Or, we share how many we've had to toss..clear ones, quitters, what ever..and, some folks have questions. Some can answer and help them through the hatch...like what the temp should be, or the humidity. Myself for example, do more of a dry hatch. Not completly dry, but I don't worry about humidity at all. Well, I don't let it get below the high 20's, then I fill in with water again.
Go see if you can find us!
